hi pals! I always spend my time thinking in some minor (and cheap, of course) mods...so, let´s go to the pics 8)

first, I have removed the original air box e installed a conic air filter. these pics are from the ZX of my friend Robertinho, but the installation is the same:

note: my filter was fixed a little more higher, avoiding to aspire water or another strange thing

and the exhaust! I have installed full 2,5 inches (63,5mm) tubes with 03 mufflers. the sound in 3000rpm is a rumble from hell and in full throttle the engine accelerates very well at the limiter! very good!

sorry for the low quality pics, mobile cam is not very good...

thanx ^^

searching in ebay I found these OMP air injection kit http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... &rd=1&rd=1

it´s equal to this http://www.gt2i-tuning.com/fiche_produi ... atid=5_158 (same model/part number)

does anyone thinks it´s much difference from my homemade air induction kit? except for the quality of the air filter of course...

this is the OMP kit:

It looks smaller than your filter.

yes yes!

other thing that I noticed is that engine temp is a little bit higher than before...the air filter is catching hot air from the engine bay...

but the car accelerates very well 8)

you using the same system, Cruiser?

yeah! I was wathing in the www.zx16v.net page! very good!

but you don´t have problem in the filter catch something because it´s installed too near to the floor?

the weather here sometimes is very wet, so it´s dangerous to catch some water in the admission :?

Mates,

I have used the open pod filter in my first ZX 16V and found it to be very inefficient if the weather was hot. Another danger to this open filter arrangement is the possibility of sucking up water when driving through puddles of water.

After comparing the open pod filter vs standard intake system, i find that the standard system is more efficient and the safest setup available.

In order to make the best out of the standard intake system, i have ordered a drop in green cotton air filter for better power and torque. Anybody here has used it before?

ZX Cruiser,

How does your green twister perform vs the standard intake system?

It might catch a lot of small debris which is coming from the wheel and gets past the plastic cover..

hummm, some news 8)

after the installation of the conic air filter and the modded exhaust I put my car in the same dynamometer that I made the initial measure...

I will put the graphics later, I need to scanner then

I can tell that with the large exhaust and the conic air filter I have lost a bit of torque, I have gained 6 hp and now I have not a cold air intake but a hot air intake

tip: beware with the exhaust with you put in you car, you can easily lost than gain something...

graphics coming soon

Mate,

Its best to stick to 2.25 inch pipe, a big centre resonator (should be bigger than original) and a good rear muffler (devil, remus)

The best bet with custom systems would be to go for a slightly larger dimension than the original system. In this way, the back pressure can be reduced and you can get a bit more power and torque with this setup.

What you guys think about this?
