 WOW! is that bearing failure?

Are you going to put some headshielding next to the turbo to protect the fusebox etc??

Looks a great setup.

PS Your english is fine 8)

It is not really the bearings that fail, but the sealingring that hardens. Dirt can get to the bearings and as a result damaged trailing arms.

There will be some heatshields to prevent damage to several components indeed.

I sold my XM 2.1TD because I moved to another city closer to my work. So I bought another 16V for transportation...it's not in the best state but it will do.

It's really hot in Holland at the moment so I work a bit slow to prevent overheating

I had to remove the bracket for the aircocompressor to fit the steeringpump. Didn't do it very nice, so I had another go with the sump. This time I removed it, which made it easier. Grinding just isn't my thing, but I'm satified with the result.

Cilinderbore and piston looked good, really happy about that.
Image
After refitting the pump and bracket again it fits perfectly.

The real build up is starting now. Fitting the multibelt really was a bitch. I have never encountered an engine where fitting the belt was such a pain in the ass! Had to turn the crankshaft clock and anti clockwise to get the belt over the pullies. Not a normal method but it worked and the belt is in place, maybe it's just me

Took apart the turbo, because I needed tot rotate the oil housing.
Image
Made a bracket to support the exhaust manifold.
Image
Finished.
Image
Also made a bracket voor the ignition coil, as it could no longer be mounted at the original spot.
Image
Made an oil feed and return line and some other hoses.

The original XM TCT intercooler and radiator fitted after some adjustments.

The engine runs! Had a lot of problems with the main relais. The relais didn't click unless it was connected to ground with an extra wire, but even then the engine just wouldn't start. Checked and rechecked everything like a million times, my multimeter really was having a hard day but I could not find what was wrong. In the end altough the relais clicked(what should mean it's working)it didn't. Swapped the relais with the one in my other 16V and the engine started! Only took me about 5 hours of measuring and rechecking wiring(diagrams) before I decided to just exchange parts with my daily 16V and hoping it would work. But it did and I will never ever trust a clicking relais anymore

crappy quality though

I had 2 ZX. My daily died. Pistonrod bearing failure which resulted in crankshaft damage. Car is going to be scrapped.
The turbo engine originally has less horsepower, but is going to have at least 200hp, I will just not stop until it does. Progress however is very slow. I have never welded before so I'm fucking up my exhaust over and over  but I keep going!
