I'm looking at having some goodridge brakes hoses fitted in the next month or two but I have been told the old hose's could prove troublesome to remove after all these years and may break at the caliper and be a pain to remove , I was wondering what it would take to fit some xsara vts discs/calipers etc and what is involved , I know bigger wheels are required 16" ? But is there anything else , thanks , Mark

Xsara VTS brakes will fit with no further modifications. The brakelines don't normally break at caliper side, but the other connection will probably be seized. When it is seized it really can be a pain in the ass to loosen it. You can try heating it up, but you need to be careful as left over brakefluid can cause a bit of a explosion when heated enough.
15" wheels can fit over the Xsara brakes, depends on the design/make of the wheels.

the original 16v wheels will not fit even though they are 15", you'll need 15" steels or late zx dakar/xsara vts wheels, or saxo 15"s.

you'll need the brake hoses from the RS engined zx or xsara vts/306 gti6 as they are longer.

The original 15" wheels will indeed not fit, they are quite lumpy and weigh 10,1kg
Brakehoses are the same length(430mm) for the 155hp and 167hp ZX. The Xsara VTS has 460mm hoses. I have used 430mm hoses and don't have any issues.

probably not, doesn't sound like my kind of car show to be honest and its a fair trip from here, and I have spent quite a lot on my bikes and the ZX this year so funds are tight already.

tbh regarding the brakes, I'd see if you can get some 4 pots around the original 266mm discs, or the thicker later 206/berlingo items, as the 283mm discs weigh quite a bit more.

Got the chance of some Peugeot 306 Gti6 braided brake hoses, would these fit the Zx or is it a no no ?

If you use gti6/vts brake calipers yes

only slightly too long for the S16 type setup too.
