Time for a update!

After my daily 16V died on me, I temporarily had a Nissan Sunny to my disposal. But being a complete 16V addict, I bought myself another one

It was really cheap, but there had to be done quite some work to get this car back in to good condition...and just for fun I lowered it a bit.
From the top of my head.
-Rear axle replaced
-1 coil
-2 rimms+tyres
-dampers incl new topmounts etc
-H&R lowering springs
-replaced dash
-replaced steering wheel
-exhaust from manifold to end muffler
-rear discs/pads + calipers + handbrakecables
-radiator
-Complete ACAV except for manifold
The result:

Car is lowered front + rear about 2cm, it's hardly noticeable looking at the photo though.
But this topic was about my turbo project!
I created a exhaust form turbo to the end and modified the wiring loom. It is supposed to be driveable at the end of july.
Couple of pics.

I don't have a endtip, so just used a 1 meter pipe as reference ;)

It is the red one which died?

If it is, too bas you'ne not living in France! I'm looking for a Red right door, but I can't find one...

Nice work for the other one!

It's seems that there's a lot of 16V in Holland, I am wrong?

After some electrical problems, which prevented full boost, the car drives pretty well and even at orignal boost feels pretty quick. Compared to a 180hp RFS ZX engine it pulls already better from 140 tot 175. I have bought serveral upgrade parts which still have to be installed.

When I have upgraded the intercooler, I'm going to up the boost to about 0,95bar, hopefully I will hit the 190+ HP.
The biggest news however...
I will be stripping and complete rebuilding 2 ZX 16V's together with another forum member. One with the RFS engine build up with group A specs and one turbo one, I however don't have decided if I will keep using the tct engine or are going to build a RFY one...

Swapped the RGY(145hp) ECU for the RGX(150hp). It makes a big difference! You can not feel any difference in max hp, but the engine is much much smoother and stronger in the 2500-4000 rpm range. First gear is a bit useless at the moment

I have swapped the radiator and intercooler, needs a bit of modification but those are only minor. Swapped the XM 2.1TD radiator for a Xantia 1.8i with airco one and the XM intercooler for the one purchased some time ago. The new radiator fits 100x better than the XM one.

Lower, smaller and thinner(and much cleaner:P

Halfway the modification

Final assembly :) The connection between turbo and intercooler needs some extra work. I made an error when I was "designing" the connection. In het past it was way to full near the dynamo, as you can see it is now improved a whole lot. Pretty happy about it ;).
Old way

Many things happened with the car, but the most important thing is that the engine is out. Have made a new plan to get it back on the road and bought some very nice parts.

Image
A flow designed manifold, TD04 turbo and a VEMS ECU

I also have:
Alcon clutch
OMP pressure plate
440cc injectors
1.9gti lightweight block(new liners + pistons) and flowed head
ARP headstuds
Modified S16/RFY crankshaft

The car has been scrapped due to accident damage. This was the very final drive with this car and only at 0,5bar boost...

The 1.9 GTI does not have oilspray bars. The pistons really could use some oil cooling, so i ended up buying a MI16 block.
Image

It has been stripped, so finally I can start building up the engine. Keeping power steering will be a bit difficult as the mi16 has the pas pump above the gearbox, that place has been taken by the turbo. The bracket as used on the 1.9 gti engine or the RFY engine does not fit.
So I'm thinking about an electrical pump.
